Technology company SpaceX launched its ninth test flight of its Starship rocket from Starbase in Texas on Tuesday, but during orbit, the rocket encountered problems due to a thruster explosion shortly before it was expected to land at sea, writes the BBC.
The premature explosion caused a fuel leak, which led to a loss of control and the rocket starting to spin out of control.
SpaceX announced that the flight team lost altitude control during the rocket's re-entry into the atmosphere.
In March, another Starship rocket, during its eighth test flight, exploded shortly after takeoff from Texas, prompting the temporary suspension of flights and warnings about the danger of space debris.
