These days there is a lot of talk about the recent decision of the US administration to blacklist Huawei Technologies and ban American companies from cooperation and business with the Chinese giant. Google has previously announced that it is withdrawing the license for Android from Huawei, for which it was forced by the decision by the US Administration. In the meantime, the US Commerce Department has effectively delayed the effectiveness of those orders for the next 90 days, starting on May 21, Reuters reports.
Over the next three months, Huawei will be able to purchase American-made products and services to maintain its existing network and provide software updates to existing Huawei devices, according to the Reuters report. However, the Chinese company is still prohibited from buying parts and components of American manufacturers, which would be used for new products, without approval for licenses which would certainly be rejected, KOHA Ditore writes.
Over the next 90 days, Huawei will be able to certify operating system updates for existing phones with Google. It remains to be seen whether this period will be enough to include in the certification the license for Android Q updates for existing phones, but there is no doubt that Huawei will do its best to achieve this.
The temporary Android license that Huawei received expires on August 19.
