Apple is interested in using artificial intelligence to speed up chip design, the device's top technology executive has announced, Reuters reported.

Johny Srouji said that Apple's development of custom chips, from the A4 of a 2010 iPhone to the latest chips that power Mac computers and the Vision Pro headphones.

He said one of the key lessons Apple learned was that it needed to use the most advanced tools available to design its chips, including the latest software.

"Moving the Mac to Apple Silicon was a big gamble for us. There was no backup plan, no plan to split the line, so we committed ourselves completely, including a monumental software effort," the Apple official added.
