Amazon tracks and penalizes workers who work from home

 Amazon

Amazon workers in the US are being tracked and penalized for not spending enough time at the company's offices, an email sent to them said, as companies push back against work-from-home mandated during the pandemic.

Some of the workers were alarmed that "you are currently not meeting our expectations to join colleagues in the office for at least three days a week," according to the email, the Financial Times reported.

The email was aimed at workers who went to the office less than three days a week in the last eight weeks.

Amazon is among the latest companies to take steps to encourage workers to return to the office. In March, Apple began threatening punitive action against workers who didn't return to the office for half-hours, while Elon Musk asked Twitter workers to return full-time.
