WhatsApp is testing a new video calling option

Messaging app WhatsApp, which is owned by Meta, is testing adding a picture-in-picture mode to its iOS app.

WABetaInfo reveals that video calling in PiP mode is being tested as part of the WhatsApp beta for iOS version 22.24.0.79. At the moment, the mod is not available for Android.

With the said feature, users will be able to chat with people on WhatsApp video calls and check other apps while doing so. This will make multitasking easier.

Currently, it's only possible to check WhatsApp chats when you're on a video call on the app. PiP mode will be activated when you exit the WhatsApp app during a video call.

According to reports, PiP mode for WhatsApp video calling is available for users who have devices running at least iOS 15.

WhatsApp allows users to watch YouTube videos in PiP mode.
