Four-time French Open Grand Slam champion Iga Swiatek has crashed out of the tournament on her 25th birthday. She lost her fourth-round match 2-0 in straight sets to Marta Kostyuk. Poland's Swiatek, the third seed in the tournament, lost to 15th seed Kostyuk of Ukraine 7-5, 6-1 in straight sets on Sunday.
Swiatek is known as the "Queen of the Sand", having won four Roland Garros tournaments. But the last tournament won by her in Paris is in 2024.

The Pole will begin her Wimbledon title defense at the end of June. She has not won a single tournament title in 2026.
Meanwhile, Kostyuk remains undefeated on clay in 2026. She won the Madrid Open earlier this month, and the Rouen Open in April.
In the quarterfinals, Kostyuk will play compatriot Elina Svitolina.
Svitolina, the seventh seed in the tournament, won 2:1 in sets against the tennis player representing Switzerland, Belinda Bencic.
