The "race" of four skiers for Kosovo's two places at the Olympic Games

Drin Kokaj, Klos Vokshi, Kiana Kryeziu and Lirika Deva have met the five criteria for appearing at the "Milano Cortina 2026" Winter Olympic Games, which are held from February 6 to 22. 

But only two of them will have the opportunity to represent Kosovo at the Winter Olympics.
Kosovo will be represented by one male and one female skier.

Kosovo competitors will hold the final qualifying competitions in the coming days, while on Monday the International Ski Federation will notify the Kosovo Ski Federation and the Kosovo Olympic Committee of the points earned by the competitors. 

The final selection is made by the Kosovo Ski Federation.

The President of the Kosovo Ski Federation, Milaim Kelmendi, said that Drin Kokaj and Kiana Kryeziu have the advantage.

"Four competitors are fighting for the primacy, as only two will go. It's Kiana, Lirika, Klosi and Drini. The four competitors have been competing for two months. Four competitors have reached the norm for appearing in the 'Milano Cortina 2026' Winter Olympic Games. One male and one female skier will represent Kosovo. Drini and Kiana are currently in the lead, but it could change because they are close in points, but these two are in the lead," Kelmendi told KOHĪN on Wednesday.

In the Winter Olympics, Kosovo has not yet come close to a medal. In the Summer Olympics, Kosovo has a total of five Olympic medals, three of them gold. All five medals have been won by judokas.

"If we reach the 40th position, it would be a success based on our infrastructure. Our competitors have participated in various camps since the summer. There has been development on their part. They have also not lacked financial resources. But we are being penalized a lot because of the infrastructure. However, we expect a good performance at the Olympic Games," said Kelmendi. 

Albania will also have two representatives at the Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina.

She is even a contender to take a place on the podium. Lara Colturi is considered a contender to win a medal at the Olympic Games, which would be the first for Albania.
