German tennis player Alexander Zverev has won his first Grand Slam tournament.
Zverev, considered one of the best tennis players who have yet to win a major trophy, triumphed on Sunday in the French Open final with a score of 3:2 in sets, against Italian Flavio Cobolli.
Zverev started the match in Paris perfectly, winning 6:1. It seemed that there would be no trouble, but the course of the game was different.
Cobolli responded in the second set 6:4, and Zverev won the third set with the same result.
The last set ended in a tie-break, 7:5 in favor of the Italian Cobolli, who tied the score at 2:2.

But the 24-year-old Italian did not have the strength to continue the same performance in the fifth and final set.
The 29-year-old Zverev won 6-1 in the final set. He lay on the ground, spread his arms in triumph, and burst into tears.
It was a kind of liberation for the tennis player who had lost the past three finals, in three different events.
Zverev was defeated by Dominic Thiem at the 2020 US Open. In 2024, he was defeated by Carlos Alcaraz in the final of the French Open, and last year at the Australian Open, he was defeated by Italian Jannik Sinner.

The 29-year-old became the first German tennis player to win a Grand Slam tournament since Boris Becker in 1996. Becker had triumphed at the Australian Open.
Meanwhile, Cobolli was aiming to become the first Italian since 1976 to win the French Open Grand Slam clay court tournament.
