As planned, the Electoral Assembly was held by the Kosovo Swimming Federation on Saturday. The FNK wrote that the Assembly was Statutory and Electoral. According to the announcement, the FNK statute has been harmonized with the six points required by World Aquatics and with the Sports Law.
In fact, a few days ago, World Aquatics requested that the FNK Assembly not be held on November 2.
Fis Murati has been elected president of the FNK, this federation announced.
Bashkim Haxhimusa and Xhevat Camaj were elected vice presidents, while Granit Morina, Fitnete Sfarqa, Artiol Shala, Hana Fejzullahu, Vlera Llalloshi, Besim Gashi were elected to the board.
According to the announcement, the supervisory council, the professional commission, the competition commission, the selector and the general secretary were also elected.
According to the announcement, the assembly was monitored by the manager of the swimming federation at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Shkëlqim Sadriu. It has not been announced that there were representatives of the Olympic Committee of Kosovo in the assembly.
For several weeks, the FNK was without a chairman, as Agron Zeqiri resigned after being suspended by a World Aquatics body for discrimination.
World Aquatics wrote in a letter presented a few days ago that "it believes that elections should not be held in the FNK before the revision of the statute of the Kosovar federation by World Aquatics is completed. If the Federation continues with the electoral Assembly, World Aquatics would like to clarify that it will not recognize its results". So the results of the assembly are not expected to be recognized by the world federation.
Saturday's assembly just confirmed for the most part that the very small Kosovar swimming community is divided into two groups.
The other group, which claims to represent 18 clubs, accused the board and the vice president of FNK of legal violations, statutory violations and discrimination.
