The 41-year-old American retired from active skiing in February 2019, but returned to competition in December 2024, after a partial knee replacement.

In December, she became the oldest skier in the world to win a World Cup downhill event when she triumphed in St. Moritz, Switzerland.

In Zauchensee, Vonn was faster than Norwegian Kajsa Vickhoff Lie by 37 hundredths of a second.

It had a time of 1 minute, 6 seconds and 24 hundredths.

American Jacqueline Wiles finished third, 48 hundredths slower than Vonn.

Vonn, who has one gold and two bronze medals at the Winter Olympics, will represent the United States at the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, from February 6 to 22.
