The winger, Edon Zhegrova, will be part of the Basel team for the new season. The Belgian media have reported on Wednesday that Basel has already reached an agreement with the Genk team for the transfer of Zhegrovo, which will be formalized in the next few days.
For Zhegrova's card, the Basel team will pay three million euros in compensation. In fact, it is said that it was Zhegrova who insisted on such a move because he did not wish to return to Genku. The 21-year-old was loaned to Basel for a year and a half, since a month ago he did not use his purchase right for 3.5 million Swiss francs because the coronavirus pandemic had affected the club's finances. In the last edition, Zhegrova scored two goals and made four assists in 19 appearances with Basel in all competitions.
After leaving Basel, several clubs from Ligue 1 showed interest in Zhegrova, but were rejected by the footballer. It was the Dijon team that had reached an agreement with Genk and had offered Zhegrova a four-year contract, but the footballer was not interested because he insisted on returning to the Swiss team with which he has won a cup.
