Zeneli and Sahiti eager for success with Kosovo

Arber Zeneli

It has been almost a year since Arbër Zeneli played the last match for the Kosovo representative. A year without playing for "Dardans" is big for the winger. The absence of Zeneli in the field has been great for Kosovo as well. But Zeneli expects to help Kosovo in the four games of the second group of League C of the League of Nations, a competition in which he excelled in the first edition. He then faced frequent injuries and appearances with Kosovo and his team Reims were rare. Zeneli feels good and expects to help Kosovo repeat the success of the first edition of the League of Nations - to win the group. Kosovo is part of the second group of League C together with Greece, Northern Ireland and Cyprus. He will face the latter on June 2 in Laranca.

"I returned in February, then I had the chance to come in March, but I was injured again, while now I am very well", said Zeneli on the eve of the match with Cyprus.

Since 2016, Zeneli has scored nine goals in 27 appearances for "Dardans". Out of nine goals, he scored four in the first edition of the League of Nations, in group 3 of League D. He hopes for another successful edition in the League of Nations.

"We can expect a very good match. I missed the appearances with Kosovo a lot. We must all give our best for Kosovo. We must not spare ourselves for our country, the viewers who come and all the Albanians who are everywhere. I am in good shape, but every minute more is important for me", said Zeneli.

After the match with Cyprus, Kosovo will host Greece at the "Fadil Vokrri" stadium in Pristina. Greece is not an unknown opponent for Kosovo. It has already been faced four times. Twice in the League of Nations and twice in the qualifications for the "Qatar 2022" World Cup. Three matches ended in a draw and one match was won by Greece. He achieved the victory in Pristina. But, Zeneli expects the help of the viewers in the confrontation with Greece.

"I hope to start with a victory against Cyprus in the first match and then against Greece to have the stadium full of spectators. I expect the help of the spectators against Greece and to continue with positive results", said Zeneli.

Even the player of Hajduk Split, Emir Sahiti, expects the help of the public in the second match, the one against Greece. Sahiti gathers for the first time with Kosovo, while he hopes to win in the first match against Cyprus.

"It is a good feeling to represent Kosovo. It's my first collection and I'll try to give it my best. It can be seen that there is quality in the Kosovo team. We have had four days of training together and we are feeling good after the good seasons we have had with our teams. We hope for victory over our opponents. We won the Cup with Hajduk and I gathered in Kosovo with a great motive. I hope to help Kosovo. Our fans are the 12th player for us and I believe that we will have great support and we have to return them with a victory", said Sahiti.

In Pristina, after Greece, Kosovo also hosts Northern Ireland on June 9, until three days later it plays against Greece in Volos. He plays the last two games in September. On September 24th, they travel to Northern Ireland, before hosting Cyprus on September 27th. If it finishes first in the group, Kosovo in the next edition of the League of Nations would compete in League B, i.e. in the second level. If it remains last, it risks falling to League D, i.e. to the last level, the fourth.
