Gazmend Sinani, representative of Kosovo in basketball, died as a result of a road accident that happened in Gjakovë.
The Basketball Federation of Kosovo with deep sadness informs the public about a tragic event that happened in the early hours of Saturday morning.
In the same accident, Granit and Fisnik Rugova, Altin Morina and the national team's physiotherapist Kujtim Shala also suffered bodily injuries, reports Koha.net.
"The Kosovo Basketball Federation expresses its heartfelt condolences to the Sinani family and Gazmendi's friends for this irreparable loss", the announcement states.
Gazmend Sinani was 27 years old. After spending the youth groups in Pristina, he continued his career in Turkey, where he was part of the Fenerbahçe academy and the Turkish youth national teams.
In Kosovo, he played for Pristina, Bashkimi e Rahovec, while he appeared in various Turkish clubs for several seasons.

In 2017/18 he played in the elite league in England.
Sinani was a member of the Kosovo national team, since FBK's admission to FIBA.
"With his loss, Kosovo has lost one of the best basketball players of the generation, the national team has lost one of the most valuable and combative basketball players. His commitment during the preparations for the June games has been an inspiration and motivation for his teammates, while his professional approach and fighting spirit will remain in the memory of every basketball fan", says the FBK announcement.
