With a grand and emotional ceremony, legendary Roma captain Francesco Totti has ended his 25-year career as a Roma footballer.
Most of those present at the "Olimpico" were in tears at Totti's farewell ceremony, which was held after the end of Sunday's match that Roma won 3:2 against Genoa, reports "Koha Ditore".
Totti, 40, came on in the 54th minute and was greeted with a standing ovation. It was his 786th appearance for Roma, the only club he has played for in his career, and for which he has scored 307 goals.
Numerous banners were addressed to Totti, while all the players finally wore special shirts for the legendary captain. Sunday's match was of great importance for Roma and was a very dramatic encounter, as with the victory the Roman team secured a ticket to the group stage of the Champions League, finishing as runners-up in Italy.
