"The Sun" writes about the rivalry between Switzerland and Serbia

The big English newspaper, "The Sun", wrote on Tuesday about the great rivalry between Switzerland and Serbia. The two representatives are part of group G in the World Cup that starts on November 20 in Qatar. Brazil and Cameroon are also in this group.

"While most rivalries have arisen because of the border with another country, Switzerland is 1000 kilometers away from Serbia. The reason for their rivalry has a much deeper meaning", writes "The Sun".

The story begins in Kosovo, writes the powerful English medium, while mentioning the departure from Kosovo of the families of Xherdan Shaqiri and Granit Xhaka.

"Both players, who identify with Kosovar-Albanian heritage, captured the headlines at the 2018 World Cup when they celebrated their goals by forming the image of the double-headed eagle that takes place on the Albanian flag."

FIFA intervened after the Football Federation of Serbia made a formal complaint.

Xhaka emphasized that the celebration was for "his people".

It was for my people who have always supported me. They were pure emotions."

Shaqiri has refused to give many explanations, saying that "emotions sometimes grab us footballers. And there was a lot of emotion there."

"The Sun" writes that tensions remain high with Serbia, which refuses to recognize the state of Kosovo.

"Some expect all the tension, politics and emotions to be revealed on December 2 when the two representatives meet in Qatar," writes "The Sun".
