Teams with few foreign players and local coaches

In addition to the small number of foreign basketball players in the 2020/21 edition of the Kosovo Super League, the number of foreign coaches in the elite teams is also expected to be limited.

The Super League clubs, after the great financial troubles caused by the coronavirus pandemic, have mainly focused on the players, but also the local coaches. Finally, Rahoveci and Bashkimi, although they have not yet made any move for players, have made official the coaches for the new season. Rahovec on Thursday confirmed that it has reached an agreement with Bujar Loci, while Bashkimi announced a day earlier that Illmen Bajra will be in charge of the team. Bajra was in charge of the Union last season as well, which was interrupted by the Kosovo Basketball Federation (FBK) on March 31 after the spread of COVID-19 in the country. Meanwhile, Loci started the last edition at Sigal Prishtina and at the beginning of this year he returned to Rahoveci, but he did not manage to lead the team in any match as first the basketball season was canceled and then it was interrupted by FBK, without being announced the champion.

In fact, basketball is the only team sport that has not finished the last edition and has not been active almost since the break. The closure of sports gyms as a new measure of the Government of Kosovo in the fight to prevent the spread of the coronavirus has made it impossible for the teams to start training for the new edition. Similar to Rahoveci and Bashkimi, Sigal Prishtina is also expected to act in the matter of the coach, who is expected to entrust this position to Andin Rashica.

In charge of Ponte Prizren remains Arbnor Rifati, as well as Shkumbin Kumnova in Vellaznimi, while the most unclear situation is with the team of Peja and Trepça, which have not yet resolved this issue and have not yet given any signal that they are working on this aspect.

In Peja, the chairman Art Gashi offered his resignation a few days ago, while in Rahoveci a new board was appointed in an attempt to mobilize the club. The only foreign coach for now in Kosovo is Dragan Radovic who was confirmed by Golden Eagle Ylli weeks ago. The star has also already registered two foreign players in the team, the Americans Daniel Regis and Cody John, while Ponte Prizreni has also engaged Justin Jones, Josh Martins and Ty Nichols...
