Majlinda's September is inaugurated on February 28

The Olympic champion, Majlinda Kelmendi, will be inaugurated on February 28 at 11:00. September, which was originally supposed to be located in Pristina, will be located in the hometown of the champion, in Peja.

This was announced on Saturday to Koha.net by Kosovo's judo coach, Driton Kuka.

Since July 18 of last year, Kuka had announced that the International Judo Federation, namely its president Marius Vizer, has engaged world-renowned artists to create bronze statues for the judo champion. The World Federation has covered the costs of the work of the statue, while there were dilemmas only where it would be placed.

One of the initial ideas was to place the statue somewhere in Pristina. On August 15 of last year, the then Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Kujtim Gashi had asked the Municipality of Pristina to allocate a suitable location for placing the statue of Majlinda. There was no official response from the Municipality, according to coach Kuka.

In December, Kuka announced that September was coming to Kosovo and that there was still no answer from the Municipality of Pristina. Thus, the statue has been sent to Peja and it will be revealed on February 28. The first of the IJF, Vizer, who is a great friend of the Kosovo Judo Federation, will be at the unveiling ceremony. Vizer will also participate in the ceremony of announcing the best for 2019 by the Kosovo Olympic Committee, which will be held on February 27.

"The vizier is coming next week to the KOK ceremony and to the inauguration of the statue of Majlinda in Peja. We have decided to place the statue of Majlinda in a park in our city. It is a good place, near the House of Culture. The inauguration will take place on February 28 from 11:00 a.m.," announced Kuka.

Majlinda Kelmendi is definitely the best Albanian athlete of all time. He won the Olympic gold medal in Rio 2016. He also has two world titles, a world bronze medal, a total of four European gold medals and many, many other successes.

Majlinda and the Kosovo judo team are highly valued by the IJF and its president, Vizer.
