For the prizes reserved for team sports, namely for the teams representing the country, the competition was thin. In fact, such were the results of the representatives of Kosovo in 2016.
The best representative in the men's competition was announced in handball. Meanwhile, among the women, the most successful was the U-18 representative in volleyball. Some federations decided not to compete on the grounds that they had no results and some had criticism for the way of selection, Koha Ditore writes today.
The level of individual athletes corresponded to the level of the gala evening of the Kosovo Olympic Committee (KOK). Awarded at the ceremony held on Wednesday night were an Olympic champion, a World senior bronze medalist, European junior champions and European junior medalists.
But far from the level of the results of the awardees, namely Majlinda Kelmendi, Herolind Nishevci, Distria Krasniqi, Donjeta Sadiku and Orges Arifi, are the results achieved by the representatives of Kosovo who were declared the best for 2016.
It was the first time that KOK gave awards to the best of the year. But for the prizes up for grabs for team sports, namely for teams representing the country, the competition was thin.
