Striker Robbie Keane retires

Robbie Keane has ended his career as a footballer after being appointed as Mick McCarthy's assistant to the Ireland team.

The 38-year-old started his career at Wolves in 1997 and played for 11 clubs, including Tottenham, Liverpool, Leeds and LA Galaxy.

In 737 games for the clubs, he scored 325 goals and another 68 for Ireland, becoming Ireland's top scorer.
