On Friday, the Kosovo Government approved the Draft Law on the Mediterranean Games "Prishtina 2030".
According to the Ministry of Sports and Youth, this is an important step in organizing the largest sporting event to date in Kosovo.
The draft law defines the legal framework, institutional responsibilities and procedures for the organization and functioning of the Mediterranean Games.
The draft law foresees state financial support of 253 million euros for this organization. The aim is to further develop infrastructure and promote Kosovo in the world.
"The main source of funding for the organization of the 2030 Mediterranean Games will be the state budget of the Republic of Kosovo," said the Minister of Sports and Youth, Blerim Gashani, during his speech at the government meeting.

So far, there have been major delays in the procedures for organizing the Mediterranean Games. There have even been clashes between the Government and the Municipality of Pristina.
This organization is being given great importance in the country, although in general the Mediterranean Games have lost much of the weight they had. The organization will bring thousands of athletes to Kosovo, but it will also cost the state budget quite a lot. In the meantime, improvements are expected in the sports infrastructure in the country, which continues to be inadequate.
This year's Mediterranean Games are being held in Taranto, Italy, from August 23 to September 3.
Kosovo is expected to send a large delegation to precede the "Prishtina 2030" Mediterranean Games.

The last edition of the Mediterranean Games was held in Oran, Algeria. 3390 athletes from 26 different countries participated. But not all sports featured the best. “Prishtina 2030” will be the 21st edition of the Mediterranean Games.
Kosovo debuted at "Tarragona 2018" and also participated in "Oran 2022". It has ten medals in total. In judo, six gold, one silver and two bronze were won. Another bronze was won in boxing.
