One of the footballers who is considered one of the best of all time, Lionel Messi, turned 31 today.
Messi was born on June 24, 1987. He is an Argentinian soccer player who plays as a striker with the Spanish club Barcelona in La Liga and with the Argentine national team.
Since the age of 21, Messi has been nominated to win the Ballon d'Or. A year later, in 2009, he won his first Ballon d'Or awards. He continued his dominance by winning three more Ballon d'Ors in 2010, 2011 and 2012.
He also won the 2010–11 UEFA Best Player in Europe. At the age of 24, Messi became Barcelona's top scorer in all competitions.
At the age of 25, Messi became the youngest player to score 200 goals in La Liga. In September 2014, Messi reached the mark of 400 goals for club and national team at the age of 27.
