The coach of Italy, Roberto Mancini, believes that the postponement of the European Championship can go in favor of his team.
In an interview with Sky Sport Italia, Mancini said that the 10-month gap between the national team's training sessions could cause difficulties.
Mancini has revived Italy since taking charge in 2018 after the Azzurri failed to qualify for that year's World Cup.
Under his leadership, Italy has won all the qualifying matches for Euro 2020, while it is in a series of 11 victories.
"If we were to play the European Championship in June, we would have a good chance, but we would probably face representatives who are better prepared due to the fact that they started renewing the team earlier than us, or who have formed teams for a long time before, like France for example", said Mancini.
"With one more year, the boys will have the opportunity to improve in every aspect. They will gain experience".
Mancini is convinced that Italy can compete with the best. He hopes to coach Italy's first European title since 1968.

Italy won 9:1 in their last match against Armenia in November. Two friendlies in March have been canceled due to the pandemic. The European Championship has been postponed to 2021, while all June and July matches have been postponed or cancelled.
