Liverpool are interested in Phillips

The Liverpool team has expressed interest in England midfielder Calvin Phillips.

"The Sun" reports on Monday that Liverpool will contact Manchester City this week regarding the transfer of the 27-year-old. It is learned that Liverpool will insist on the loan of Phillips with the obligation to buy him at the end of the season.

Liverpool are in search of a defensive midfielder following the departure of Fabinho and Jordan Henderson, while Phillips is seen as the right reinforcement by coach Juergen Klopp.

He joined City last summer from Leeds United for €50 million, but suffered frequent injuries and made few appearances. Phillips has a contract with City until 2028, while this edition he has not yet registered a single appearance.
