The defender of Manchester City, Aymeric Laporte has paid about 5000 euros for the uniform that was used by the late French boxer Alexis Vastine during the Olympic Games "London 2012", in an auction organized to collect money for health workers.
After buying the uniform, he returned it to the deceased boxer's father, writes the Reuters agency. The auction was conceived by the famous French handball player Cyril Dumoulin, a world and European handball champion.
Reacting to Laporte's action, Dumoulin posted a message on Twitter: "When facts speak louder than words! Thanks to @Laporte for winning this auction with the desire to leave the uniform to Vastine's father! Your talent is great, but your heart is also great!!!”
Laporte replied: "Thank you for your initiative and these auctions help those who need it the most."
Vastine had won the bronze medal at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games in the welterweight category, but was eliminated in the quarterfinals in London four years later.
He died in a helicopter crash in Argentina in 2015 while participating in a French TV show. Nine other people, including Olympic swimmer Camille Muffat and navigator Florence Arthaud and seven others.

Dumoulin, who plays for club HCB Nantes, has been selling sports uniforms for two years to raise money for good causes.
"At the beginning of the isolation, I started to organize the garage and I realized that I have collected a lot of clothes. With two friends, we said why not do a big sale to help the hospital staff? Other handball players came by donating their uniforms, some Nantes sports journalists activated their network to spread the idea. Since then, it has grown significantly," said Dumoulin.
Earlier this month, he said that he collected around 4000 euros every day from the "#SPORTAIDONS" initiative.
