Gripshi intends to leave his mark in the Champions League as well

Nazmi Gripshi - The Balkans

In his second season with the Balkan team, he managed to win the title of champion. It is about the offensive midfielder Nazmi Gripshi, who was one of the main players in the historic success of the team from Suhareka. On Sunday, the Balkan team was officially presented with the championship trophy, which is the first in the history of the club. This ceremony was held after Balkan's 2:0 victory in Suhareka against Gjilan, which was also the last for the 2021/22 season.

While this is the first title for the Balkans, the same cannot be said for Gripsh. He also has a title won in his career, but in Albania. In the 2017/18 season, he was also declared champion with Skenderbeu of Korça. Gripshi has said that he is proud that in his second season in Kosovar football he managed to become a champion.

"I am very happy that in my second year in Kosovo football I managed to win the title of champion. This is the second time for me as a football player that I win the championship, as I won one in Albania as well", said Gripshi. "Throughout the edition, the atmosphere in the club was very good and we were all motivated. So I believe that the city of Suhareka deserved this success together with the fans and players of the Balkans".

The 24-year-old Gripshi will be part of the Balkans for several more seasons. He recently extended his contract until 2025 to end all speculation about his future. The midfielder insisted that for no moment he had doubts about his future, as he was determined to remain part of the Balkans. He is very happy that he will continue to wear the jersey with the number ten for at least three more editions.

"For no moment have I doubted signing a new contract with the team. I am convinced that I have made the right choice for my career and I can say that the atmosphere in the team, the coach, the president and the group, which is very good, have influenced a lot", insisted Gripshi.

Balkani, as champion, is the only team that will represent Kosovo football in the Champions League. The Balkans will start the 2022/23 season from the first qualifying stage of the most important club competition in Europe. For the team from Suhareka, this will be the first time it will appear in European competitions, but not for Gripsh. Gripshi has been part of Teuta and Skenderbeu, but in the European League. It will be his first appearance in the Champions League and he hopes to leave his mark. He also hopes that the Balkans will go as far as possible, as he says that he has a coach like Ilir Daja, who played in the Europa League group stage with Skanderbeg.

"We will celebrate the title and immediately after that we will think about the Champions League. The goal is to have good performances and represent Kosovar football in the best possible way on the European stage. I am optimistic about this, given the qualities we have in the team, but also the coach who has experience and knows the Europa League quite well", added Gripshi.

Gripshi has been part of the Balkans since the summer of 2020. He was transferred to the team from Suhareka from Skanderbeg. This edition, Gripshi has scored three goals and made six assists in 30 appearances for the Balkans in all competitions.
