The FHK condemns the violence in Vushtrri with a statement

The Kosovo Handball Federation issued a statement about the great violence in the handball match between Vushtrri and Trepça on Saturday in the late hours. In the communiqué, it is written that "the FHK has followed the course of the Vushtrri - Trepça match with great concern, which was interrupted in the 35th minute after serious incidents on the field of play". For FHK, violence in handball matches is unacceptable, regardless of who causes it.

Furthermore, the playing field must not be violated in any way by the spectators.

"The responsible bodies of the FHK will carefully analyze every detail of the match and will take measures against those involved in serious incidents in accordance with the regulations. Unfortunately, the security for the actors of the match was not up to par and the police force did not manage to provide security. The delegate of the match, before the start of the match, spoke with the police officer, who emphasized that the number of police officers is sufficient and that the safety of all participants will be guaranteed. However, this did not happen", he writes in the communiqué.

On Saturday afternoon, the players of Trepca Mitrovica were severely attacked by the players and fans of Vushtrri. The fans have entered the playing field and are seen kicking and punching the visiting players in the video recordings. Others have hit them until the Trepça players approached one of the stands during the riot. This was the most serious incident in Kosovar handball in many years.
