The European Basketball Championship will not be held next year, as planned.
The Executive Committee of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) on Thursday held a video conference and decided that "Eurobasket 2021" will be held in 2022.
The postponement of the Eurobasket for one year came as a result of the postponement of the Olympic Games for next year, reports Koha.net.
This has led to the postponement of the Olympic basketball qualifying tournaments, which will be played from June 22 to July 4 next year. Meanwhile, "Eurobasket 2021" will be held from September 1 to 18, 2022.
On Wednesday, FIBA Europe decided to cancel 16 European championships of new categories, which were supposed to be held in the summer. One of these championships, that of the U-16 age group, Division C, had to be organized in Pristina.
