Ecuador publishes the final list for the World Cup, Castillo remains out

Ecuador was the last representative to publish the final list for the "Qatar 2022" World Championship, which starts on Sunday. The selector Gustavo Alfaro on Tuesday made public the names of 26 footballers, but left out the player who questioned the presence of the team in this tournament. He did not include defender Byron Castillo, despite all the legal trouble the Ecuadorian Football Federation has been in since the team qualified for the World Cup in March. Chile and Peru complained that Castillo was Colombian and had played illegally during World Cup qualifiers. Their charges were denied and Ecuador were allowed to appear in the World Cup, precisely in Group A along with Qatar, Senegal and the Netherlands. Ecuador plays the opening game of the World Cup on Sunday against Qatar. Selector Alfaro, has surprised with the invitation for striker Kevin Rodriguez, who plays in the second category of Ecuador. For Ecuador, this is the fourth appearance in the World Cup.
