The students of Driton Kuka continue with peak successes in judo. At the weekend, they won a total of four medals at the European Championships in Montpellier, France.
Distria Krasniqi won silver medals, while Nora Gjakova, Laura Fazliu and Akil Gjakova won bronze medals. Achilles and Laura competed on Saturday. Until now, Kosovo has never won four medals in a European championship.
"It was a good day", said Driton Kuka to KOHEN, shortly after the end of the race. "Laura should have won the gold today. But after the victory over the French legend, Agbegnenou, he did not have the right focus on the Slovenian. It is honestly a great sin. Really with a little more patience, the gold would come. But bronze is also great for Laura. In the fight for medals, he was in the right focus and did not allow surprises", added Kuka.
Akil Gjakova has won medals in major events after a difficult period of competition.
"Achilles today confirmed his return to the world stage. Another elite medal for Achilles. Bronze, but of great value. Loriana does not seem to be finding herself in a new category. All in all it was a successful day. Victory over legends by Achilles and Laura. I am very satisfied. We have never won four medals in a European. It is a miracle", Kuka emphasized.
Flaka Loxha also remained without a medal. Four medals from six judokas is an impressive result.
