Bale retires from football

Gareth Bale has decided to retire from active football at the age of 33.

The Welsh star has announced the decision on social networks.

"After careful consideration, I announce my immediate withdrawal from football at club and representative level," Bale wrote on social networks. "I feel very lucky to have realized my dream of playing the sport I love."

Bale has said that he has lived a dream for 17 seasons.

During this period, he won the Champions League five times, La Liga three times, the European Super Cup three times, the Club World Cup three times and the Spanish Cup and Super Cup once with Real Madrid.

He was most recently part of Los Angeles FC with whom he won the MLS Cup and the Supporters Shield last year.

Bale was transferred to Real Madrid in the summer of 2013 from Tottenham for a world record fee of 101 million euros.

But at Real Madrid, he had numerous problems with injuries and form, although he stayed until the summer of last year, when he moved to the USA to Los Angeles FC.

Bale thanked his former teams Southampton, Tottenham, Real Madrid and Los Angeles FC, as well as all the coaches he had during his career.

He also thanked his family members, saying that without them this career would not have been possible.

"I am now moving forward with emotions towards the next phase of life. A time of change and transition, an opportunity for new adventure," wrote Bale.

Bale played 111 games with Wales and scored 40 goals.

He said that the decision to withdraw from the representative office was very difficult.

"The decision to retire from the national team has been the most difficult in my career," wrote Bale.
