Sitting on a chair near the main entrance of the facility where the Kosovo Basketball Federation (FBK) is located, Granit Rugova on Thursday was doing some work around the Kosovo A basketball team, for which he played until June of this year. It was only his second day in the position of the director of the representatives of Kosovo, in which he was appointed on Monday by the FBK Board, after ending his career as a basketball player.
He has ended his career as an active player after a tragedy that hit Kosovar basketball two months ago. In a serious traffic accident, which happened in the morning of June 23, the national basketball player, Gazmend Sinani, died. Three other representatives, including Granit Rugova, were seriously injured in the accident that happened in Gjakovë, Koha Ditore writes today.
For a long time, Graniti was appreciated by the country's best basketball players. In the car that had an accident, besides the deceased Sinani and Granit Rugova, there were also basketball players Fisnik Rugova and Altin Morina and the physiotherapist of the representative Kujtim Shala. Fisnik is Granit's younger brother. They had an accident while the representatives were gathered in Gjakovë, where they were preparing for the matches with Poland and Hungary.
