Peja with a Turkish coach and some local reinforcements

At the Peja basketball club, they are working almost silently to complete the team for the 2022/23 edition, in which they intend to compete strongly for all possible trophies. The Pejan club has already reached an agreement with a coach from Turkey, which it has not yet made official. It is about coach Can Sevim, who last season was in charge of the elite team from Turkey, Socar Petkimsport, and he also worked at Ayfoni, also a team that competed in the Turkish Super League.

After completing the agreement with the coach, the Pejans have focused on local players and have already made official Arian Qallaku and Arti Hajdari. Qallaku was also a part of Peja in the last edition, while Hajdari in the last two editions wore the shirt of Ponte Prizren, where he was one of the main players of the team.

Apart from Hajdar and Qallaku, the Pejan club is expected to soon reach an agreement with three other locals - Dardan Berisha, Daniel Lekndrejajn and Lis Shoshin. This was confirmed by the president of the club, Fatmir Gashi, for TIME.

Gashi is convinced that the agreement will be reached with this trio of locals.

Berisha was the captain and leader of Peja last edition, in which he helped them to triumph in the Unique League. Lekndrejaj was also a part of Peja, while Shoshi has recently paused due to an injury. He was recently in Israel.

"We have already started with the reinforcements for the new season. We have already reached an agreement with Arti Hajdari and Arian Qallaku, who are very high-quality players and we are very pleased that they will wear our team's shirt for the new season", said Gashi. "We are continuing the talks with Dardan Berisha, Daniel Lekndrejan and Lis Shoshin and I believe that we can reach an agreement that they will be part of the team for the new edition".

Gashi has admitted that the biggest difficulties are in engaging local players due to the poor market. As for foreigners, he said that everything is in the hands of coach Sevim. According to Gashi, it will be the Turkish coach who will select the foreigners for the new edition.

Last season in Peja, there were many changes of foreign players and Gashi is convinced that for the 2022/23 season, the club will bring the right reinforcements, which will make the difference on the floor.

"Certainly, in terms of local players, we are finding it more difficult to bring in reinforcements, since the market is smaller. But I believe that we will build a strong team for the new season. As for foreign players, we are still researching the market and I can say that the selection of foreign players will be made by coach Can. So I believe that we will bring quality players who can make the difference".

Gashi is convinced that the 2022/23 edition will be even more interesting and stronger than the previous edition. The first of the Pejan club is based on the reinforcements that the Kosovar teams have already started to make. Golden Eagle Ylli, as the champion of Kosovo, will appear in the qualifying phase of the Champions League and is already being completed for the new edition. Meanwhile, Trepça, who triumphed in the Kosovo Cup, along with local players such as Erjon Kastrati and Mikaile Tmushiq, has also officialized two foreign players. Trepca together with Sigal Pristina will appear in the qualifying rounds of the FIBA Europe Cup.

Peja is expected to appear in the Unique League. Gashi said that Peja will enter the new championship with big goals. He has admitted that Peja's primary goal is the title of the champion of Kosovo, a success that the team has been missing for a long time.

"In the 2022/23 edition, the championship will be even more interesting, as almost all clubs are creating strong teams, with good reinforcements for the new edition. I believe that we will also be a strong team and of course we intend to fight for all the trophies", said Fatmir Gashi. "I can say that the main goal remains the championship title, as it is a trophy that we have been missing for a long time."

Peja ended the last edition with a trophy. Won the Unique League, until it was defeated in the semifinals of the playoffs by Trepça and was eliminated in the semifinals of the Kosovo Cup.
