The municipality of Suhareka now has a new square. Since last week, Suharekas will do their shopping in new spaces. Through the performance grant, Suhareka invested 300 thousand euros and moved the market to another location. Some citizens are in favor of the new location, while others are against it.
For many years, shopping in the Municipality of Suhareka has been organized in these small spaces.
Tuesday in this municipality was characterized by tollovi and numerous columns.
However, now Suharekas have a new market, which is more modern.
About 1 kilometer from the city center, the new market is characterized by more cleanliness, public toilets and a larger parking space.
The mayor of this municipality, Bali Muharremaj, says that for a long time the municipality has allocated the land for the construction of the market, but there was no budget for such a thing.
Thus the market was built with performance grants awarded by the Government to successful municipalities.
"In the Municipality of Suhareka, the zonal maps of the city have passed within the framework of the municipal development plan two years ago. The free market project is also included in this plan, that is to remove it from the city center and bring it to this space. In the spaces of the new market, the Martyrs' Park and several sports fields for the youth of Suhareka will be built. The new market is built according to European standards, has public toilets, has enough water and has lighting and is on the outskirts of the city, about 200 meters as the crow flies. It's built with a performance budget. In 2022, we received a performance grant and with it we built it and it cost somewhere around 300 thousand euros", says Muharremaj.
Mayor Muharremaj admits that some merchants were not in agreement that the market should be moved.
"In no country in the world are weekly markets organized in the city center. We have another plan for the old location, as you said earlier. I personally wanted the Martyrs' Park to have a more dignified and cleaner space, next year we plan to move the two objects that are close to these spaces, so that the citizens of Suhareka have a place suitable for walking. As for the merchants, some are happy with the new location and some are not, because there are still complaints about parking, but here it is much better than down there where it was tollovi every Tuesday and I believe it will they also learn very quickly", he emphasizes.
There are also citizens who do not agree that the location of the bazaar should be further away.
Citizen Asllan Gashi says that it is difficult to carry groceries from the market to home.
"I think that the market earlier, while it was closer to the town, was better than now that the municipality has moved it. Supplying the needs of the citizens was easier, but now there it is more difficult, because there is a road to go and it is further from our homes. In this market, even children had the opportunity to do the shopping, but now you have to go to the market yourself. The place is good, there is more space and the conditions are better, but the humidity takes its toll. It's the job of carrying groceries in hand, because not everyone has a car, here we had the opportunity with bags in hand to equip ourselves with groceries", he declares.
And the citizen Sabit Hysenaj says that even though the new market is further away, he likes the decision of the Municipality. It is said that now the city center on the market day is not crowded, as it was in the past.
"I consider the municipality's decision to be good, for the reason that at the moment the city center is calmer. It is further there, it is true, but the supply is becoming the same, but we are also having a quieter city. On the day of the bazaar, the city center was always blocked, due to heavy traffic, and circulation was many times more difficult than now. You only have to go there by car if you want to buy something, but it is more difficult. But it's not bad there either, why not, let's walk a little bit", he declared.
The new market is located in the neighborhood "Fidanishte" in Suhareka.
