It is among the oldest schools in Pristina.
While maintaining its appearance and other characteristics, the "Elena Gjika" elementary school also maintains another feature that sets it apart, that of tolerance and learning between Albanian students and the Turkish community.
There are 9 parallels in which students write and speak the Turkish language, but also learn Albanian once a week.
Students of grades 8 and 9 say that there they feel like all other students, where there is no discrimination of any kind.
Sports and painting are said to bring Turkish and Albanian students together.
The director of the school, Betim Sylejmani, says that the literature of Turkish parallels is complete and that in various competitions at the Kosovar level, students participate based on talent and knowledge, not nationality.
Turkish parallels were opened in the area of Old Pristina in 1951.
The school has managed to receive funds and investments from Tika of Turkey, and in the last investment, 18 classrooms, 3 preschool classrooms, 1 library and corridors were renovated.
