The firefighters of the Prishtina Fire Brigade will now have a special menu for the daily meal. This was made possible by the Municipality of Pristina. Rice with chicken meat, fried potatoes, salad and sandwich are the foods that the firefighters will eat during the day. This was welcomed by the latter themselves, emphasizing that it is a relief for their budget.
The time is 8:50 and Liman Berisha from the Fire Brigade of Pristina is preparing.
In his hands are the nets with which he will get the bread for himself and other colleagues.
He leaves without wasting time, as he must be on time at the premises of the Central Kitchen to receive the food.
His return is awaited by everyone, warm food is served and the firefighters sit down to eat as the next action awaits them very soon.
The municipality of Pristina has been providing a daily allowance for firefighters for two weeks now.
Rice with chicken meat, fried potatoes, dishes, weekend salad and sandwiches, are the foods included in the menu for them, and all of them are cooked in the Central Kitchen of the capital.
"The menu is weekly and every day we have different food. On weekends, sandwiches and salads are served, while on other days we have all kinds of food: we have fried potatoes with chicken, stuffed peppers, goulash and all kinds of food that the Central Kitchen cooks and we take them. So, for each day from a menu. This applies to all shifts, we work 24 hours, the morning shift, as we are today, we have breakfast and lunch, while the afternoon shift only has dinner", says Shaban Krmemi, team leader.
Firefighters welcome this. They say that among other things, they are now eating quality food and saving money at the same time.
"This has helped us a lot, we are at work every day and food is served to us three times a day. We thank the Municipality of Pristina and the mayor for this commitment. I would appeal to the Government and AME to engage and ensure such a thing in other municipalities as well. From AME they have more budget and they can do something like this. This has helped us a lot", says the firefighter, Afrim Gashi.
Gashi further says that the Government should also be involved in this aspect. Daily allowances should also be provided for firefighters in other municipalities of Kosovo.
"With this, we are also able to save because we also have small salaries. Compared to other institutions, we work with the lowest salary coefficient. We have been neglected by many even from the Ministry. This should also be done in other municipalities, not only in Pristina, because compared to other countries we are better in some aspects", he says.
This service will be served to all firefighters during 24 hours in this brigade.
