Until now, the citizens of Podujevo received emergency services only at the city's Emergency Clinic.
But since April, the new Podujeva Emergency Room has also been operational, a facility built according to modern standards, equipped with all the means for primary health treatment.
Now patients no longer need to wait in line, as beds have been placed at the entrance. Upon admission, patients are provided with medical assistance without delay.
The Director of the QKMF in Podujeva, Bajram Bajgora, emphasizes that the operationalization of this emergency has reduced the need for referrals to the QKUK and consequently has had a positive impact on the economic aspect for patients.
"This is where drainage is done, but if the case is for resuscitation needs, which is an emergency, there is the resuscitation room. Which is equipped with all the equipment for providing emergency care. For the sake of the highest quality medical service, there are some criteria that only serious emergency cases are accepted here, which compared to the old emergency, here is the smallest number of people who need treatment. This has greatly reduced the economic cost because previously, patients had to be directed to Pristina for everything, now all services are provided here," he says.

Bajgora also says that this center is much better supplied with medicines than the UCCK.
"This is the monitoring room for patients who are assessed as having a lower risk. The patient can stay for hours and receive treatment. We have a separate infusion room to respect the patient's privacy. We are extremely well supplied by the Ministry of Health with medicines and we provide the medicines here for the patients and we also have a contract with operators to bring back the medicines that are missing here. We have ampoules and other medicines here that are not available on a daily basis at UCCK," he states.
The emergency room also offers laboratory services 24 hours a day, including basic tests for patients.
"Here we are on the second floor, where laboratory services are provided. This place is also very important and an auxiliary need for the Emergency Department and is open 24 hours a day. Whenever the doctor deems it necessary, urgent tests such as hemograms, blood tests and other tests are performed here. Of course, the response time and treatment are many times faster than what doctors used to do for patients. Here everything is possible thanks to the sufficient staff on duty and thanks to sophisticated equipment," emphasizes Bajgora.
Among other things, during the design of the facility, a special room was also provided for patients who need a private consultation with a doctor.

"If it is assessed that the patient has a greater need for privacy and a more detailed consultation with the doctor, then we have special rooms for the patient to feel comfortable here. We also have an ultrasound that is completely new, it is expected that within a month we will have a radiology specialist who will come here soon and will be at the service of the patient," Bajgora declares.
The new emergency room was built in partnership with the organization "Qatar Charity", which has invested over 1 million euros, while around 600 thousand euros were invested by the Municipality of Podujeva.
