Karate club that includes all communities

Successive triumphs in the sport of karate led to the club being named "The Winner". 

A characteristic of this karate club in Ferizaj is the inclusion of athletes from all communities, emphasizes coach Bajram Bajrami. 

For the coach, working with young athletes is easy since karate is a sport passed down through generations in his family. 

"The 'Winner' karate club was founded in 1989 and since then it has continued to be part of the Kosovo Karate Federation. Given that we opened the club since the pre-war period, it was a difficult time, but there was an extraordinary will to develop a sport like karate. In our family we have many members who are involved in karate and since those times there have been black generations who have made a great contribution to this sport. Given that since the very beginning of the club's opening we have had distinguished athletes who have brought medals to the country, then we decided that the club should keep the name 'Winner'. In this club we have members and athletes from all communities as one of the strongest points of our club", said Bajrami. 

What has been lacking in all these years is financial support for the "Winner" karate club, says coach Bajrami.

This means that in most cases, young karate players travel abroad with their own money to compete. 

"Financial support is rare for the club, and in many cases, the children themselves have had to cover their participation in competitions on their own terms. Many of them have not even been able to participate in the competitions due to lack of money, which is why we have had to reduce the number of participating athletes. Last year, we participated with one of the competitors, who managed to defeat all the competitors from the participating countries," he said.

Mevlan Dalipi returned to Kosovo with a gold medal. 

He can't imagine his days without karate, because it has become a sport of his heart. 

"I participated in the World League where all the countries of the world participated. There I managed to win the gold medal and I am grateful to my coach for all the dedication he has shown towards me. Every day of mine starts with karate, with the training that has become part of my days and I cannot see myself without karate," declared Dalipi. 

Sefer Bajrami has been practicing and competing in karate for 15 years, an experience that also earned him the title of Balkan champion.

"It's been 15 years since I've never stopped karate. I've been part of consecutive competitions both in the country and abroad. I'm also a Balkan champion. What makes our long experience special is that we see the difference over the years between how foreign competitors saw us in the past and how they see us today, they are even afraid of us," said Sefer Bajrami.

The "Winner" club also aims for other competitions abroad, for which they are seeking institutional support to represent the country with as many competitors as possible.
