Kosovo champion who didn't part ways with tennis for almost four decades

Alone, but full of energy, Jeton Hajdari heads to one of the tennis courts in the capital.

This is a tennis player with almost four decades of experience in the white sport as it is otherwise known.

Jetoni began his sports career at the age of 7, when, according to him, he was the right age for this sport.

"I have been playing tennis since I was 7 years old. I have been the Kosovo champion for 10 years in all categories. I completed my 4-year studies and then the Olympic Academy, so I am on a good academic and sports path. I have loved tennis very much, because without loving this sport it is difficult to practice. So I have been playing tennis since the pre-war years where I practiced intensively with my father. The conditions before were not easy at all, more investments had to be made, so I have gained my experience in the international arena to achieve my goals," he emphasized.

He received his tennis lessons abroad, while also highlighting the trophies he has won in various competitions against international tennis players.

"Tennis is not an easy sport, but it is a recreational sport, then in professionalism you have to go based on the program starting daily, weekly, and so on. Someone comes for recreation. With tennis you have to start from the age of 7. I also have my programs in this sport, but I am a man of the field and I really enjoy going out for tennis on any sports field. As for the trophies I have received, I am starting with the one from 2018 or more precisely the nationwide tournament, where all the countries of the world were. And also the other cups that I have won in various competitions", declares Hajdari.

Although as a sport, the Pristina tennis player says it is not as developed as other sports.

This also makes interest in tennis less evident among the younger generations.

"My best experience was at the age of 16 when I was declared the champion of Kosovo, when I was a rival with Ben Islam, whom I also have as a friend, but I defeated him in the competition. What we need to know is that preparation in any sport should be as high as possible, both physically and mentally, because without psychological preparation you cannot advance technically. And if we talk about the infrastructure of tennis, there are several sports grounds for the development of tennis as a sport in Kosovo," Hajdari declares.

Kosovo tennis champion Jeton Hajdari says he will continue his sports career for many years to come and pass it on to the younger generations.
