Former teacher returns to his school, donates 170 books

The following story comes to us from Ferizaj, we will follow the story of a former teacher who after many years returns to his school and donates 170 books. With the new school, a mini-library has now been made available there and the help of volunteers is needed to enrich it further. In addition to the teacher, the leaders of that school also ask others to donate the books they no longer read to the school.

This school will soon open its doors to its students, but there is still some work left until it is ready to welcome them.

Even the new school's mini-library is not yet complete. Volunteers are helping to enrich it with new titles as quickly as possible.

Among them is Sadri Aliu, a former student of the "Two Martyrs" school in Talinoc. Decades later, he returns to this place, where he took his first steps in knowledge, now offering help to the new generations.
"A month and a half ago, I saw that this new school was ready and that it was a space dedicated to a library. As a former student of this school, I saw it as reasonable to contribute with my abilities. In the 90s, my wife and I bought 300 different books on credit and now, since we no longer read them, I saw it as reasonable to bring them here. 120 books are various readings and another 50 are textbooks," said Aliu.
According to the former student, he is making this donation as a tribute to the former teacher and former librarian of this school, who made a special contribution to his development on the path of knowledge.
"What pushed me to do this is the inspiration I had from my former teacher Sylejman Riza and former librarian Mehmet Sadiku, who, in addition to supplying us with books, would then ask us about the content of the book and the meaning of what we had read. They have been instrumental in helping us gain as much knowledge as possible. For me, this is a very big emotion based on the conditions we had at the time. We traveled for miles on foot just to gain knowledge and thus we managed to ensure that every member of my family, from my uneducated father, to each of his children, enjoys education and important institutional and state duties," said Aliu.
He adds that today's young people read little and although technology has taken over the world, it can never replace the feeling of physically touching and reading a book.
"Compared to our time, we read more then, now my grandchildren also read, but they are more focused on technology. Books cannot be replaced by anything and we must have them present everywhere, both at school and at home."
"The principal of this school, Shqipe Zeqiraj-Emini, invites all book lovers to bring a book they no longer read to the school's mini-library.
"Our village has a library and it is well-stocked, but we wanted to have a mini-library within the school premises. We have won this as a project and we are continuing with volunteers to slowly supply it with new titles. Some of the textbooks were brought by the school students themselves, some we have benefited from the former teacher Sadriu, but we also have from Prizren who have donated 30 titles for our mini-library. I have a message for our entire community, all those who have books at home and no longer read them, to donate them to us, because our students need them", said Zeqiraj-Emini.
According to the mayor of the village of Talinoc, Njazi Behluli, a new building for the school was more than necessary and now little by little this school is meeting everyone's needs, approaching foreign schools that have high standards.

"We have good cooperation with the school principal and have won several donations, among them is the mini-library that many donors have expressed the desire to provide books. I am working to collect as many books as possible for our children. This new school has been more than necessary, the old school has been around for more than 90 years and now this new one meets all the conditions, we only need the chairs to be filled and the students to be moved to this modern space," said Behluli.

Currently, the village of Talinoc has its own library, but this mini-library within the school premises will be an additional incentive for students to be closer to books. It has already started to be filled with books by volunteers, but it needs to be filled even further to have the best appearance of a school library.
