From the main center to the high-security prison, the mobile team from the Kosovo National Blood Transfusion Center has been traveling with the aim of increasing the blood reserves, which they receive every day from volunteers.
All the equipment is being brought in one by one to provide suitable conditions for blood donors here.
Besart Zyhrani is just one of the staff from the high-security prison in Podujevo who voluntarily donated blood. He appeals to others to practice this practice, which saves lives.
"I have donated blood 9-10 times, it is a good experience when we can help someone by donating blood. I am a regular blood donor. I appeal to others who are able to donate blood," Zyhrani declares.
Doctor Merita Bujupi says that there can be up to three such actions per day by mobile teams from the Kosovo National Blood Transfusion Center. According to her, blood donation in the field is contributing to blood reserves. She says that even in villages, people of goodwill are being organized on a massive scale to donate blood.

"Blood donation is a humane act and the need for blood is extremely great. For this reason, our staff is committed to organizing the blood donation drive in public and private institutions. Today I am conducting the drive in the high-security prison, here in Dyz. A sufficient number of donors have responded here. We have donors who are multiple. Before each drive, we determine where to go as close as possible to the number of donors. Within a day, we can conduct one, two or three such drives," emphasizes Bujupi. "We are also having numerous drives in many villages in Kosovo, which respond massively. Their reception and interest is to be envied," she adds.
Erëza Krasniqi, a nurse for 3 years, has joined the Kosovo National Blood Transfusion Center. She shares some of her experiences with people who have donated blood. She says she is happy that in her work she has met people who have reached triple-digit blood donation numbers.
"Depending on the department where we work, we also have our own experience. In most cases, I am part of the field teams and it is really a great pleasure. The very fact that we are dealing with healthy people, of good will who want to save lives, I usually call them heroes of the day. They really do save lives. We are always in communication with blood donors. We have regular donors who donate blood every three months. So, we have people who have reached the triple-digit number of blood donations," Krasniqi declares.
Kastriot Kuliqi's group is 0 positive and as soon as he finished his work as a laboratory technician in today's action, he became a blood donor.
As an employee at the Transfusion Center, Kuliqi frequently donates blood.

"As a blood transfusion worker, it is a good experience, it is a great privilege as a health staff. While regarding the organization of actions in the field, this is also special. We work with donors from different countries. In the other part as a blood donor, I have been a blood donor since high school. Joining in blood donation actions, we as health staff have practiced it often", declares Kulqi.
The Kosovo National Blood Transfusion Center is most faced with a shortage of blood groups that have RH negative.
