Brezovica starts the skiing season, increasing interest from foreigners

At the end of the year, Brezovica remains the favorite destination to visit and enjoy the beauty offered by the Sharr Mountains.

The country's most unique attraction is now covered by snow, which has increased the flow of visitors.
Arben Bajramaj and his family from Durrës, every time they come to Kosovo, they usually stop at one of the beautiful mountains of the country. This time they chose Brezovica and they seem to be enjoying it immensely.

"I came from Durrës, we came for fun, we like the mountains and today is my son's birthday and we chose to come to Kosovo in our country. We have many places where we can visit, but Kosovo has the natural beauty of the mountains and we wouldn't trade it for anything. Today we came here for a while, then we will go to Peja, and I am in Brezovica for the first time because we usually go and visit Rugova", said Bajramaj. 

According to him, the mountains and hills of Kosovo have no competition, but even a little infrastructure development and intervention would not be bad.

"Conditions are good, people always welcome us, but we need more development and investment here. I hope that the youth will not leave Kosovo but return here because they have good opportunities", he said. 

And for increasing the interest of visitors, those who constantly stay there notice it best. It is the same for Ardijan Grazhda, who is part of the rescue team and is ready to intervene in any case.

"We have enough snow this year, this year we expect the snow to last longer. Visitors have started coming even before the season, we have from all over the world, but more from Albania", said Grazhda. 

His experience in the search and rescue association has made him know the area quite well, for which he says he is proud that a place like Brezovica belongs to Kosovo.

"We have good mountains, but we also need investments. Cable cars should be new, everyone has gone ahead but we are stagnating, I think more investment is needed. Albanians are not very good for skiing, but more come to enjoy the view, but we also have good skiers who come and use the spaces to develop their favorite sport. With the development of this area, I believe that we will have even more interest from investors", he declared. 

Grazhda adds that this year Brezovica has started the skiing season on time, when the snow in most such places is missing. Brezovica has already attracted foreigners to use it for entertainment and skiing.

"We all take care of all the visitors, but it's very difficult because sometimes the visitors are moving and going out into difficult terrains and then we have to commit to find them," said Grazhda. 

On Friday, the skiing season officially started in Brezovica, and on the first day the use of the cable car for skiers was offered for free.
