Singer-songwriter Raye has made history at the Brit Awards, winning six of the seven awards she was nominated for, beating the likes of Blur, Adele and Harry Styles.

Raye is also the first woman to win the songwriter of the year award, the BBC reported on Sunday.

"The artist I was three years ago would not have believed that today I would get here. I am my own boss", she said.

Dua Lipa has triumphed in the category for the best pop song with "Dance the Night", soundtrack of the movie "Barbie". It is her seventh trophy at the Brit Awards, while Kylie Minogue won the global icon award.

"They gave me the feeling of confidence that I can do anything", said Dua Lipa during the acceptance of the award, while talking about her fans.

She also thanked her father and manager, Dukagjin Lipa, calling him "Dadager Dougie".

Raye took her grandmother Agatha on stage with her as she accepted her sixth prize.

"All I ever wanted to be was an artist, and now I'm an artist with an album of the year. Thank you very much. Come on grandma, let's go," she said.
