The movie "Blonde" continues to cause controversy in the public

The author of the original book "Blonde", Joyce Carol Oates, has defended the new biopic in which actress Ana de Armas portrays the icon, Marilyn Monroe.

The film, made by Netflix, is described as a story that re-imagines the Hollywood icon and mixes events based on fact with fictional ones. Since its launch on the digital platform on September 3, this project has caused numerous public debates. While some have praised de Armas' performance, most people are considering the film exploitative of Monroe's character.

Joyce Carol Oates, who wrote the book on which the film is based, came to the defense of its creators.

"I think it's an amazing work of cinematography and art, which obviously isn't for everyone. I am surprised that in the post-#MeToo era, the harsh exposure of sexual harassment in Hollywood is being interpreted as exploitation. Of course, the director, Andrew Dominik, wanted to tell the story of Norma Jeane in the most honest way possible".

Adrien Brody, who in this project portrays Monroe's husband, Arthur Miller, joked a few weeks ago that there will be many controversies about the biographical film when it is released to the public.

Responding to the criticism about the film, the Latin actress Ana de Armas for the fashion magazine "L'officiel USA" declared: "I don't understand why this happened. I can name a number of movies and series that are much more explicit and contain more sexual scenes than the movie 'Blonde'. But to tell this story it's important to recount all these moments in Marilyn's life that made her end up the way she did. Her mental and emotional state had to be explained. All the actors and crew behind the film were aware that we had to go to uncomfortable places. I wasn't the only one who did this."

In the movie "Blonde", which has already been categorized as unsuitable for people under the age of 18, the following actors also play: Bobby Cannavale, Julianne Nicholson, Xavier Samuel and Evan Williams.
