From the 18th century BC until the Roman occupation, Ferizaj and its surroundings were populated by the Dardanians. In the region of Ferizaj, mounds of Dardanian cemeteries have been discovered, including a group of XNUMX graves dating back to the XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries BC in Gërlica (Gurëz), as well as necropolis of mounds in Zaskok.

The city has a central position in relation to the territory of the municipality, where the altitude of the city is about 580 meters above sea level. Its favorable geographical location is further enhanced by the intersection of ancient roads, such as the Prizren-Anamoravë and Prishtinë-Skopje roads, making Ferizaj an easily accessible center for exploration.

Natural Attractions

Among the important natural attractions, the Bifurcation of the Nerodime River has a unique distinction in Europe as the only case where a river divides into two seas. The Nerodime River originates in the mountains of Jezerci and in the village of Neredime it splits into two branches, each flowing into different seas. The southern branch (right branch) joins the Lepenc and Vardar Rivers and eventually flows into the Aegean Sea, while the other branch flows into the Sitnica River, eventually reaching the Iber River and flowing into the Black Sea.
In addition, there are other notable natural attractions such as the Rahovica Pine Park, Gurreth Peak, the Confluence of Two Rivers, the Jezerci Waterfall and several important hiking trails that enable outdoor experiences. These natural wonders offer fascinating sights and experiences, showcasing the diverse and breathtaking landscapes of our region.
