The President of Republika Srpska in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Milorad Dodik, will not serve a year in prison for his conviction for disrespecting the decisions of the international High Representative.

His prison sentence was replaced with a fine.

"Determining the request of the defense of the convicted person, Milorad Dodik, to replace the sentence of imprisonment with a fine, in accordance with legal regulations, the Court decided that the proposal be accepted and Dodik's sentence was replaced with a fine," the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina said in a statement.

In addition to imprisonment, Dodik was also sentenced to six years of exclusion from political activity.

He must pay the fine of around 18 thousand euros within 30 days.
