When the safety of citizens is in question, disinformation passes easily. Safety it is one of those basic needs of every individual, and when we feel that this security is being threatened, no matter how critical a mind we may have, we fear. So, this has the effect of increasing fear and decreasing critical judgment, it was said in the show "Behind the Scenes" on KTV.
Security issues make it easy for people to fall prey to misinformation that warns that war is imminent, thus threatening our individual security.
Therefore, one of the goals of disinformation is to sow doubt and uncertainty. In addition to disinformation, the north and the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, even during the year 2023, has dominated the reports and content of the media as a whole.
As the insecurity in the north has widely served for disinformation, it has consequently influenced the disinformation of another aspect of security: the arming of the KSF.
This topic has prevailed as a source of misinformation usually related to the developments in the north of Kosovo. Through disinformation, suspicion was created about the security threat, the producers of disinformation started with false information that the KSF is now being armed and, consequently, Kosovo is ready to face any threat that comes from outside.
Producers of disinformation in this regard are expected to focus on security issues in 2024 as well. On the one hand, we have the ongoing instability in the north, and on the other, the constant warnings for almost three years from the heads of state about the possibility of war. These two together are expected to influence the possibility of a possible war to be discussed this year as well.
While 90% of the citizens' attention is focused on the events in the north and the possibility of war, there are many other internal problems that go unnoticed and create no noise.
