Content about security and the possibility of war in Kosovo have dominated the mediums and social media in Kosovo in the month of April.
A mini-documentary made by the editor who covers the field of defense in the British newspaper "The Telegraph", Danielle Sheridan, received great attention. This mini-documentary brought back to the local and international public discourse the tensions between Kosovo and Serbia and the possibility of the invasion of Kosovo by Serbia.
From the border line of Kosovo, on top of a mountain, the journalist was wearing a bulletproof vest usually used by journalists reporting from the war zone, and asked: "Could Kosovo become the next Ukraine?" But, by many, this reporting was considered problematic. (see here)
In the meantime, there were also videos showing the "armament of Kosovo". It was claimed through a video that Albanian military equipment was heading towards Kosovo. (see here)
There were also reports that Germany was bringing additional forces due to tensions in northern Kosovo. But the NATO mission in Kosovo had denied these claims, showing that these are normal logistical movements. In October last year, after the Banjska attack, Germany approved sending 150 soldiers to Kosovo. The spokesman of the German Ministry of Defense said then that the contingent of soldiers would arrive in April 2024.
In another case there was also a mistranslation which shows how important it is to confirm the statements we report. On April 22, a session on Kosovo was held at the UN Security Council and RTK broadcast it live. While Serbian President Aleksandar Vuçiqi was speaking about his claims regarding violence against Serbs in Kosovo, namely about a case in 2023 when a person of Kosovo Albanian nationality, a member of the KSF, had shot and wounded two young Serbs, the simultaneous interpreter in the Albanian language of the session translated that Vuçiqi had said that in this case the husband of the president Osmani is involved.
Articles with the same claim were published on several news portals, based on the same translation. However, hibrid.info reviewed the speech of the Serbian president in the original language and it did not turn out like that. (see here)
