President Vjosa Osmani has expressed condolences to the Gashi family following the death of boxing legend Nazif Gashi, one of the most prominent names in sports in Kosovo and a member of the golden generation of Pristina boxing.
In her condolence telegram, President Osmani praised Gashi's extraordinary contribution to sports and the country.
"With deep sadness we received the news of the passing of Nazif Gashi, one of the most prominent names in the history of Kosovo sports and a member of the golden generation of Pristina boxing," it says in its reaction.
She recalled that Gashi, as a boxer for the "Prishtina" club, became a symbol of courage, discipline and dedication, while his performances and victories made the capital's club known throughout the then Yugoslavia.
"The memory of Nazif Gashi will remain unforgettable and inspiring for generations to come," Osmani declared, expressing condolences to the family, relatives, the Kosovo Boxing Federation and the entire sports community.
At the end of the message, the president expressed that in these difficult moments that the family is going through, she shares their pain and wished them strength to cope with the loss.
"May the memory of Nazif Gashi be eternal," concludes the president's reaction.
Gashi died at the age of 74.
