A total of nine boxers have been presented by the Boxing Federation of Kosovo for the European Championship held in Belgrade, Serbia. The European Championship for senior level boxers is held from April 15 to 29.
In fact, the chances of Kosovo's boxers competing in Belgrade are small. However, the Kosovo Boxing Federation has decided to do its part. He presented the team.
"We are fully ready to compete in the European Championship. We have presented the team and now we are waiting for the next step from those in charge. The only condition from our side is to compete equally with all other countries. So that all symbols of the state of Kosovo appear. Let's see. We are waiting", Latif Demolli, general secretary of the Kosovo Boxing Federation, told KOHEN.
Bashkim Bajoku, Lorent Murati, Shpëtim Bajoku, Patriot Behrami, Jozef Rrasi, Taulant Jakupi, Donat Syla and Shpejtim Shabani are the boxers selected for the European Championship. The boxer Donjeta Sadiku was also presented. Kosovo does not appear with so many boxers in any event. But for the special European, the number of potential participants is also special.
A month ago, the Boxing Federation of Kosovo sent an official letter to the European Boxing Union (EUBC). The World Amateur Boxing Federation (IBA) and the Boxing Federation of Serbia, as technical organizers of the European Championship, have been notified of the content of the letter.

"We ask the European Boxing Confederation to implement strict measures and guidelines that guarantee equal opportunities for all athletes, regardless of gender, nationality or any other characteristic that could be a basis for discrimination. We believe that the European Boxing Championship in Belgrade can serve as a beacon of hope and unity, showing the true spirit of boxing in the world", writes the letter of the Kosovar federation to the EUBC.
The answer so far has been absent. And this is a sign that the equal participation of Kosovar boxers is not expected to be allowed.
In the past, Kosovar boxers were not allowed to appear in international events held in Serbia. In some cases the boxers were not allowed to enter the territory of Serbia, while in other cases they were not guaranteed participation with symbols, namely equal participation with other delegations.
"It's been a month since we sent the letter, with which the country's institutions were also notified. But so far there is no answer. We hope that there will be some movement in the coming days", added Latif Demolli.
