Balkan aims to keep the first place even after the difficult journey

Feronikel - the Balkans

The champion of the last two editions in the Kosovo Superleague in football, Balkani, had lost the first place in the table before two rounds. But, last week, thanks to the defeat of Llap in the derby by Drita and the 2:0 victory over Liria, Balkan came out on top of the table again.

The team from Suhareka now leads with 56 points, two more than Llapi e Drita. In the Balkans, they aim to stay at the top until the end of the campaign, to celebrate the third title in a row. This however is not easy. Many challenges await the Balkans, the first of them immediately on Saturday when they play in Drenas against Feronikeli 74.

The match Feronikeli 74 - Balkani starts at 15:00, and it belongs to the 29th round of the Kosovo championship.

The captain of the Balkans, Edvin Kuç, is optimistic before the difficult trip to Drenas. In the victory over Prizren in the previous round, midfielder Kuç had contributed with a scored goal.

Feronicel 74 continues the strong race for survival. It occupies the eighth position, namely the tie, with 30 points, as much as Gjilani has in seventh place. In the ninth, penultimate position, is Fushë Kosova with 20 points, while in the last place is Liria with only 10 points.

Kuç, the quality and experienced footballer, said on Friday to KOHA that the Balkans should be careful of the team from Drenas. The representative of Montenegro considers Feronikeli 74 a very difficult opponent when he plays at the "Rexhep Rexhepi" stadium.

"We are sure that a difficult game awaits us. Feronicles is fighting for survival and is always inconvenient when playing at home. But we are still fighting for a higher goal and we have to be at the level to defend the title. There are still many games ahead. If everyone plays to the maximum until the end, the championship will be interesting", said Kuç.

In the Feronikeli 74 team, one of the most distinguished during this edition was the wing player, Jakup Berisha.

Skopje has scored four goals and as many assists so far. For him and the entire Drenica team, the objective is to get points until the end of the championship.

"We know it will be a very difficult match. For us, every match until the end of the season will be like a final and we will fight for three points. We know the entire Balkans for the quality it has and we know it is fighting for the title. But we are also in a situation where every point counts. We aim for a positive result for the Balkans, because we want and hope to win the race for survival", said Berisha.

Feronikeli 74, managed by former Premier League player Shefki Kuqi, has had fluctuating form this year. It was first eliminated from the Kosovo Cup. It suffered five defeats, drew in three matches, while winning only two matches.

Even the Balkans did not have the best results.

At the beginning of the year, they lost to Pristina in the Super Cup final, but continued to compete for the Kosovo Cup and the champion title. This year, the Balkans have won only four games in the elite, suffered two defeats and tied four games.

In the semi-finals of the Cup, Balkani won the first match against Suhareka, while they play as hosts later this month.

On Saturday, there are two more matches of the 29th round, also of great value. Drita has easy work, at least on paper, with Lirina on the synthetic grass field in Gjilan. Meanwhile, Prishtina faces Gjilan in "Sami Kelmendi" of Lipjan.

On Sunday, the matches Dukagjini - Llapi and Fushë Kosova - Malisheva are played.
